The national president of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) pleaded with his counterparts in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to develop policies and programs that could enable them to win an election.
This, Freddie Blay, thinks this is a pragmatic approach to mending the country, instead of undermining the current government’s political process through agitation and propaganda on social media.
He expressed dismay as to why the NDC is trying to take ownership of the #FixTheCountry campaign which seeks to bring government attention to addressing shortages in the country.
Mr. Blay was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Volta regional headquarters in Ho.
“Parties that have not won the government must demonstrate political maturity and refrain from undermining the political process through agitation and propaganda. Today we are witnessing the sad specter of some political parties abandoning their own political manifestos and struggling to own the ‘FixGhana’ agitation, ”he said.
He added: “My message to my colleagues from other parties is that the best way to fix Ghana is not by screaming from the rooftops or on social media.
“You mend Ghana by crafting appropriate policies that win the mandate of the people in elections and leaving yourself space to execute the mandate. This is what the Ghanaian people expect.
He therefore called for collaborative efforts between the NPP and the NDC to resolve the country’s challenges to enrich the livelihoods of the citizens.
“In our diversity of political approaches and ideologies, the NPP and our colleagues in the NDC and all other political parties must be united in the will to make our country a better place for now and for generations to come,” did he declare.
