Derek Ferguson said he heard rumors of investments in the Rangers and believes that if the Gers receives an injection of funds, he must go after Ryan Kent 's signature.

Steven Gerrard's men are hoping for a second place in the Scottish Premiership and another season without a trophy this season.

Thoughts are turning more and more towards next season, as the Rangers should allow their rivals to beat their rivals with Celtic throughout the title race.

Kent, who is on loan from Liverpool, has been proposed as a permanent signing, but the Rangers should spend a lot of money to close the deal.

Ferguson says that there has been talk of injecting money into the club and thinks that, if money came next, it would make sense to lock Kent up.

"It's a lot of money [for Kent] and it is reported that you speak £ 7m, do the Rangers have that? " Ferguson said on Open Goal.

"You have to invest.

"You hear rumors that there will be investments.

"I'm not too sure.

"But if they had some bobs, you'd definitely try to tie it up."

The Rangers were busy in the transfer market last summer and Gerrard wants to bring extra quality in the coming months as he hopes Celtic will not win a ninth consecutive league title.
