Interior Minister Ambrose Dery has tasked the Ghana Police Service to improve the quality of security services provided in the country.
According to him, an improvement in the maintenance of public security through law enforcement will not only restore the confidence of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in police personnel, but will also make him proud.
"I think it's up to us, the police, to improve our game to make sure the president is proud. I believe I have your approval to promise that to the President. He said.
Speaking at the annual year-end meeting of the West African Security Service Association (WASSA) of the Ghana Police Service, on Friday March 22, the Interior Minister said that the police had recorded many achievements, but recent statistics have shown that it slope in the success of the police.
He also urged the force to support the president by working hand in hand to ensure the security, peace and sanity of Ghanaians.
Amberose Dery said: "The statistics show that we have registered some success, but successes are starting to go in the other direction. We must work hard to deal with it. Always remembering that the President believes that people must feel safe. I am proud to work for a president who does not let things get bored, turns away when there is illegality. "
For Inspector General of Police David Asante-Apeatu, the police service will soon deploy regional commanders in the six newly created regions.
According to him, the new regional commanders have been selected and will soon be transferred to the new regions to ensure that the regions benefit from a strong security platform.
The IGP expressed confidence in stating that "the new regional commanders were selected after due diligence. The police administration does not doubt that it will meet our expectations. "
