A police officer identified as Ernest Newton Dwemena died prematurely on Wednesday after a driver lost control of his vehicle and crushed it to death instantly while on duty in Buipe in the central district of Gonja from the Savannah area.
“Unfortunately, Constable Ernest died today Wednesday, September 29, 2021 while on official duty in Buipe. A truck driver lost control of his vehicle and hit him, killing him instantly.” , revealed a police statement.
The deceased officer has since been congratulated by the Ghana Police Service in a Facebook post saying his name will be engraved in gold.
The Ghana Police Service’s Facebook post further revealed that the circumstances leading to the young officer’s death will be fully investigated in order to take appropriate action.

Today we celebrate the late Constable Ernest Newton Dwamena, formerly of the Regional Operations Department of Savannah Regional Police Command.
Unfortunately, Agent Ernest died today Wednesday September 29, 2021 while on official duty in Buipe. A truck driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into it, killing him instantly.
Like other police officers, Ernest said goodbye to his family and left for work hoping to see them after the work closed but unfortunately met his untimely death due to the nature of our work.
Like other fallen colleagues, his name will be etched in gold in our hearts.
DCOP-led Savannah Regional Police Command Ebenezer Larbi visited Ernest’s family in Kintampo in the Bono East region to empathize with them. The G. IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare also contacted the parents by phone and offered them the condolences of the police administration.
The circumstances leading to his death will be fully investigated and appropriate action taken.
