Some angry young people from Sankore in the Ahafo region reportedly beat the Omanhene Traditional Council of Sankore, Ogyedom Appiah Kubi Katakyie IV Paabour, without mercy in public.
According to sources, Omanhene and some of his deputy chiefs would have been bullied because he would have refused to allow a local deputy, Stephen Akowua Acheampong, to bury his relative in Sankore.
The badembly confirmed the incident but claimed that Omanhene had not been beaten as planned.
Mr. Acheampong claimed that some of his deputy chiefs had been beaten and denied any wrongdoing.
The incident took place in the presence of many people at the funeral scene.
Ogyedom Appiah Kubi said DAILY GUIDE in a phone interview that he was well abused. He categorically stated that it was the MP who had organized gangsters to beat them.
According to Omanhene, he has already written to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development that he could not work with the MP.
The MP later told the paper that there had been a "clash" between him and Omanhene for some time.
"The crash concerns a parcel of land that I own and I rented it to a telecommunication company for the construction of a mast. When the rent was due, the Omanhene appeared and said the money should be paid to him.
According to the MP, the issue sparked heated debate and the case was referred to the courts, which ruled in his favor.
This, he said, angered Omanhene. For example, when his relative died recently, the chief sent emissaries to inform the family that he would not allow Mr. Acheampong to bury the deceased in the city.
"The corpse is still in the morgue because the chief has threatened to shed blood if we perform the funeral and burial," he said. DAILY GUIDE.
In the heat that followed, he said, for a week, the youths chased the Omanhene messengers and beat them.
"At the time, I was with the DCE to report on his conduct at the badembly and I learned that he came himself later to prevent the family to go ahead with the funeral, but he himself was not beaten, "he added.
The newspaper learned that the problem had since been reported to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for an amicable settlement.
