While many people wait for Elon Musk – who has repeatedly backed Dogecoin on social media – to send meme currency to the Moon, a US-based YouTuber has actually tried to do something like this. . On the tech billionaire 50th birthday on June 28, Reid Williamson sent a real Dogecoin into space with a weather balloon. Williamson posted a video titled “I Sent Literal Dogecoin Into Space” on his YouTube channel that showed him and his friends preparing to perform the feat.
The video showed Williamson and his friends identifying the launch pad for the first time. Once they focused on an open green field, they started installing the balloon system and attaching the cryptocurrency payload to it. After a few attempts that turned south, the team finally managed to get a successful launch. A camera attached to the payload showed the bird’s-eye view of Earth as the Dogecoin slipped away from it. The weather balloon later returned to Earth and landed a few kilometers from the site from which it had been launched.
Separately, Williamson also shared the news on his Twitter account.

One user, @lilyledyard_, commented on Williamson’s tweet congratulating Musk, but also pointed out that the billionaire has yet to keep his promise.
@Elon Musk happy 50th, but @williamson_reid sent doge to the moon before you and he’s only 23

Noticing this comment, another user, @ Doge4faithfull, asked everyone to be “respectful to Musk” on his birthday. “A trip to the moon lasts eight days, nearly 200 hours. Not an hour. It is the Earth. I’m very glad they did it anyway, and as a gift to Musk. So as not to shame him, ”we read in the message.
Let’s be kind and respectful to Elon on his birthday.

Elon doesn’t just send a coin, he sends a real satellite ????– DOGE GLOBAL – #DOGEUSA (@ Doge4faithfull) June 28, 2021
The person added that Musk would send a satellite that “will process transactions for all of us,” which no other digital coin has done.
A satellite that would process transactions for all of us, something no other coin has, including Bitcoin (they are only sending a basic metal coin this year).

When user @williamson_reid asked if this was real, Williamson replied “yes”.
