Zambians apply for housekeeper and driver jobs in the Middle East

To date, hundreds of Zambians have applied for domestic and driver services in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, the Zambia Daily Mail newspaper reported.

Last month, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait asked the nation of southern Africa to provide 1,000 citizens with jobs as drivers and domestic workers in both countries.

Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe told the Zambia Daily Mail that the medical and police control procedures had already begun.

She added that the government had hired a recruitment agency to receive applications for jobs in the UAE and Kuwait.
"We have received an overwhelming response from Zambians who want to work in both countries. The recruitment agency we hired has received about a thousand applications, "she said.

Ms. Mwanakatwe said her ministry worked with the Ministries of Labor and Social Security and Foreign Affairs to speed up the recruitment process.

She said that once the selection process is complete, the selected people will be informed of the actions to take and not to do when they work in both countries.

She said: "Citizens will be sent in batches until we have reached the required number of those we send. We will have people who will work as cleaners, drivers, while others will work in hotels. "

Ms. Mwanakatwe said that the government would remain in constant contact with those selected through the Embbady of Zambia in these countries.

However, other citizens have begun to question social media because of the poor labor records of both countries.
