Medical drones will distribute blood and essential medical supplies to various health facilities.
Dr. Bernard Oko-Boye, MP for Ledzokuku constituency, acknowledged that the use of drones to deliver essential medical supplies across the country will not solve all the health sector's problems.
The government has awarded a $ 12.5 million contract with the American company Zipline for the distribution of blood and essential medical supplies to various health facilities across the country. This project was successfully tested on Tuesday.
Dr. Oko-Boye said the project would only address specific challenges in the health sector, during Wednesday's Wednesday3 TV3, before the project's official launch.
"Let's not forget that this is not supposed to solve logistical problems or replace existing provisions," he warned.
The deputy of Ledzokuku also said that time was an essential factor in the delivery of health care, noting that the blood that would have taken about 2 hours at the New Tafo health facility was acquired in less than 10 minutes with drone technology.
Former Vice-President of the People's Party of the Convention (PRC), Rhodalin Imoro-Ayana, however, pointed out that while the government praised the Zipline project's success, it should keep in mind two halls. of surgery that she says are not functional.
She suggested that the project is a misplaced priority.
"New Tafo had two theaters that did not work. For me, getting a refrigerator capable of storing blood, is even better, "she said.
