Zola, No. 2 Maurizio Sarri, admitted that his style was questioned as he face Manchester United FA Cup tonight in the first of four games that could decide the future of the manager.

Sarri is under intense pressure as his Chelsea team play four crucial games in nine days.

His possession-based game, nicknamed "Sarri-ball" and shot around the heavily criticized Brazilian midfielder Jorginho, was attacked as too slow and too cumbersome for English football.

"There are questions about what we do, a lot of doubts," said Zola.

"We try to adapt to the league – we adapt but we do not change what we think is good for this club, otherwise we are nothing."

When asked if Sarri, who was stubborn, could change his methods, Zola said about his Italian compatriot, "How do people know we are not making any changes?

"We are adjusting things. You must understand that it is the Premier League.

"We adjust without changing where we want to go.

"The direction is always the same."

Sarri's work is on hold after the 6-0 defeat of Manchester City last Sunday, leaving Chelsea in the top four after losing four of his last nine games in all competitions.

A defeat in the quarter-finals of the German Cup against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer United at Stamford Bridge could even spell the death knell.

This is despite the fact that Chelsea faces Malmo in the second leg of their last 32 meetings in the Europa League on Thursday.

Chelsea will then face City again in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

One week Wednesday, they are at home with the Spurs when they resume their action in the Premier League.
