Zongo Development Fund partners with GBC for development

Zongo Development Fund and Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) must work together for effective dissemination of development-oriented stories about Zongo communities.

The stories will aim to foster a change in attitude and empower people to take on more difficult vocations.

As part of the partnership, ZoDF will use GBC’s various dissemination platforms to strengthen the execution of its mandate in the communities of Zongo.

The initiative came about when Zongo Development Fund Managing Director Dr Arafat Sulemana Abdulai called GBC Managing Director Professor Amin Alhassan to his office on Wednesday.

In his opening remarks, Dr Abdulai expressed the Fund’s gratitude to GBC for the “wonderful” support it has given to the Fund so far in terms of publicity, recounting several examples of collaboration in the dissemination of programs. , GBC Funding projects and interventions across the country.

Dr Abdulai said the Fund is committed to strengthening collaboration with GBC and that the challenges Zongo communities face in the areas of education, sanitation, basic infrastructure and health were issues that support and collaboration with the GBC would help address.

Other areas include; vocational training, employment, economic empowerment, drug addiction, extremism and violence.

Dr Abdulai also expressed the Fund’s willingness to partner with GBC to foster attitude change in the communities of Zongo.

For his part, Prof Alhassan commended the Fund for its unprecedented support to the communities of Zongo and said that as a public broadcaster committed to ‘public service’, the GBC shared the mandate of the ZoDF .

He expressed concern about the negative stereotypes of the communities of Zongo and underlined the willingness of the GBC to support the Fund in the production of targeted programs on social challenges such as “child beggars, violence and extremism” .

He said a change of attitude was needed in the communities of Zongo and assured the Fund of GBC’s willingness to support the promotion of such a change.
