Executive Chairman of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Eld. Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong pledged the company's total commitment to set up waste treatment plants in the country's sixteen regions to manage plastic waste into something of value.
Over the past decade, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has provided integrated waste management solutions: collection, transportation, composting and waste recycling; where the waste is recycled into reusable materials such as compost for the agricultural input.
Network of professionals by the President of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye this weekend at the Pentecost Congress Center to spread the vision of the church, Mr. Siaw revealed that the company had started operations in the north of the country with only tricycles collecting waste.
He added that the company had established one in the Eastern Region and Tamale.
He added that the company was already establishing the same thing in Kumasi and Takoradi.
"Our main goal is to create waste treatment plants all over the country, we currently have one in Jamestown, Accra, in the Eastern region (Adjeikojum), Tamale and we are to install a large one in Kumasi and Takoradi, "he said. the media.
He noted that if the country supported the establishment of these factories, it would end the import of imported fertilizer each year by the government.
"In Ghana, here we import $ 38 million worth of fertilizer every year for farmers but if we all support the creation of waste treatment plants, we will get it without importing fertilizer for our farmers because they have done in some foreign countries these and the recycling of plastic waste in so many things, "he said.
Mr. Siaw said the creation of these factories would create many jobs for the people of this country.
& # 39; … If we are able to establish these factories, this will create jobs and at least one plant will create 250 jobs for people. It is more advantageous to establish waste treatment plants than to dispose of waste indiscriminately ".
Mr. Siaw Agyapong congratulated the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, the Hon. Cecilia Dapaah for providing 20,000 bins to drop in the streets of Accra, the country's capital.
"I will take this opportunity to salute the Minister of Sanitation, the Honorable Cecilia Dapaah, who recently provided 20,000 bins to be dropped in the streets of Accra," he acknowledged.
He promised that the company was ready to help President Akufo-Addo to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

He said the main challenges facing the country are landfill sites.

On the allegations
Dr. Siaw Agyapong felt that some people sit on the radio to say negative things about him and his company without facts.
He added that some people had deliberately decided to tarnish the image of his company (Zoomlion), while stressing that his goal of providing good services to the country would serve as a guide to society.

He also revealed that, following the excellent work that he was doing in Africa, Harvard University in England had appointed him a member of the board of directors of the Center for African Studies of the institution.
