The majority decision of South Africa’s highest court to sentence Jacob Zuma to 15 months in prison was “sensibly moving and angry and not in accordance” with the constitution, the former president’s foundation said.
The Constitutional Court on Tuesday found Mr. Zuma in contempt for defying his order to appear in a corruption investigation while he was president.
This gave him five days to surrender to the police.
In a statement Wednesday evening, the Jacob Zuma Foundation said that Zuma’s lawyers would soon provide “legal advice on the options available.”
The former president only testified once during the investigation into what became the “state capture”, but then refused to appear.
The investigation – led by Judge Raymond Zondo – asked the Constitutional Court to intervene.
