Durban – The former son of President Jacob Zuma, Vusi Nhlakanipho Zuma, died of the complications of systemic lupus erythematosus, known as lupus, said family spokeswoman Linda Makatini.

Makatini said an intimate memorial service, between close family and friends, for the young Zuma would take place on Thursday.

Makatini says that the family gathered daily to pray.

"We continue to gather for support and prayers between 6pm and 7pm at our home in Forest Town," she said.

The Zuma family also expressed their gratitude for the messages of condolence and support since the death of Vusi on Sunday evening.

"The Zuma family would like to express their deep gratitude for the warm messages of support the nation has extended to them," they said.
