Dusty Hill, co-founder and bassist of ZZ Top American rock group, died at the age of 72 in Houston.
His group mates Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard, with whom Hill has spent more than 50 years making music together, announced Hill’s death on the group’s Facebook page.
“We are saddened by the news today that our companion, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at his home in Houston, Texas,” they wrote.
“We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will regret your unwavering presence, your good nature and your enduring commitment to providing this monumental background to the ‘Top’.
“We will forever be connected to this ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’
“We will miss you a lot, amigo. ”
Hill’s cause of death is not yet known.
