Sony has released a new trailer for Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, which gives us a much better idea of what the new content in the re-release is. Iki Island is an expansion that sees Jin travel to … well, Iki Island, where a different Mongol threat takes root. The trailer above gives us a glimpse into the history of the expansion, which seems to be going pretty well.
Of course, Iki will also be home to new quests, gear, and secrets. The official description for the expansion reads: “Jin’s journey begins when he discovers that a mysterious Mongolian tribe has taken over Iki. They are led by a revered shaman called Ankhsar Khatun, known to his followers as “the Eagle”. Both khatun and shaman, she is not only a conqueror of nations, but a shepherdess of souls. And the danger she poses to Jin and his people is one of a kind.
He continues, “Our semi-fictional version of Iki Island offers a stark contrast to Tsushima. It is a wild and lawless land of looters and criminals, marked by memories of war and fiercely independent; Samurai have not controlled it for decades. As skilled as he is, Jin cannot face the Mongols alone. He will have to work with or around a coterie of unsavory characters to lead the fight against the Eagle. looks good to us!
Basically, we expect Iki Island to be more Ghost of Tsushima – but that’s not a bad thing when the open world epic remains one of our favorite PlayStation 4 exclusives. Can’t wait to see Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut? Prepare to bloody your blade once more in the comments section below.
