Sakai! Where were you!?

Sony has released more story details and a new trailer for Ghost of Tsushima’s Iki Island expansion, which will be available as part of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut.

Writing on the PlayStation blog, Sucker Punch Productions lead writer Patrick Downs revealed that the expansion features “new places to explore, characters to meet, stories to complete and more.”

In the story, Downs revealed that a Mongolian tribe led by a shaman called Ankhsar Khatun, known to his followers as the “Eagle”, took control of the island.

He also points out that “Iki Island offers a stark contrast to Tsushima”.

“It is a wild and lawless land of looters and criminals, marked by memories of war, and fiercely independent; the samurai have not controlled it for decades.”

In terms of gameplay, this contrast means that Jin encounters more factions, including pirates, smugglers, and mad monks.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be released on August 20 for PlayStation 5 for £ 69.99 and PlayStation 4 for £ 59.99. Existing Ghost of Tsushima owners can upgrade for £ 15.99 on PS4 and for £ 24.99 on PS5. PlayStation continues to charge users for next-gen upgrades for its IP addresses, a drastically different approach from Xbox.
