Ghost of Tsushima Legends’ multiplayer mode is getting a bunch of new content in the coming weeks, starting with a new 2v2 PvP mode called Rivals on September 3.
Developer Sucker Punch’s Darren Bridges Described the Studio’s Redoubled Plans for Legends in New blog post. Rivals will be a free update for all current Legends players, and like the rest of the mode, it will support cross-play and cross-progression between PS4 and PS5.
Rivals has been described as a 2v2 PvPvE mode where teams compete against each other to kill waves of enemies in order to collect and drop Magatama which can “harm the other team”. If that sounds a lot like Destiny 2’s Gambit, that’s because it looks a lot like Destiny 2’s Gambit, at least at first glance.
“You can spend Magatama on Shades to block opponents’ purchases, curses (void of health, exploding bodies, etc.), Hwacha fire, and more,” explained Bridges. “Once you’ve spent enough Magatama, you’ll unlock Final Stand waves. Complete them before the opposing team to win!”
Rivals will launch alongside a larger update that will increase the gear level from 110 to 120. By linking level 110 gear to a class completing new mastery challenges, players can add a second advantage slot to their equipment and unlock new abilities and techniques for related classes.
Ahead of the September 3 release, Sucker Punch will release a more general update on August 20 alongside the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cup (you won’t need to purchase the Director’s Cut DLC to get the update). This will bring “some changes based on community feedback,” Bridges said, such as shortening Survival mode and adding weekly challenges, and adding more Legends cosmetics awarded from history to Jin in the base game.
If you don’t already have Ghost of Tsushima, you will also be able to purchase Legends individually in the future. Legends will retail for $ 19.99 / € 19.99 / £ 15.99 on PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS5, and aside from a few cosmetics related to the main game’s campaign, Bridges says it has all “the same content. Legends “. The studio will also be offering an upgrade package for players who decide to get the main game after purchasing Legends, which will cost $ 40 / € 50 / £ 44 on PS4 and $ 50 / € 60 / £ 54 on PS5.
How Ghost of Tsushima is coming Iki Island shows “a different perspective on Mongolian expansion”.
