Frontline appears to be a single Ghost Recon title, as the tactical co-op open-world filming of Wildlands and Breakpoint – two games Ubisoft Bucharest has worked on previously – has been traded in for a new version of the battle royale genre. Free to Play First-Person Shooter Will Feature Over 100 Player Matches – With Full Crossplay On Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and on PC – duel on the map of Drakemoor Island.
The main mode you’ll play is apparently called Expedition, in which each team of three people “will complete dynamic objectives on the huge open map with no converging circle.” Once players are done collecting information, they will need to head to a drop zone. and request an extraction. Once launched, all teams will know the position of the extraction and attempt to intervene, players will have to play tactically to successfully escape and win the game.
One of the selling points of Ubi’s Tactical Military Series has been customization with weapons and gadgets tailored to the task at hand. In Frontline, a class system is in place: close range assault, support calls with fortifications (seen at 1.11 in the trailer), and a scout class for those long range engagements. If you start with the wrong gear, you can swap between combat moments.
The reaction online has been stormy, with a huge dislike report on the YouTube trailer and complaints about the series’ highly tactical new direction on Reddit. There are a lot of first class memes in the thread if this is your scene. Without too much attachment to the series on the TA team, this sounds like a pretty interesting concept and we’ll get our hands dirty ASAP!
European PC gamers also have the option to play the Open Beta October 14-21 by registering on the Frontline website. What do you think of the trailer? Are you also unhappy with the BR leadership? Or maybe you’re just happy to have a new BR to break the Warzone / Apex circle? Call in your comments section below!
