Spring and early summer tents are on the move due to the ongoing pandemic and widespread theater closures.
Box office dominoes are falling – again.
Minutes after MGM announced Thursday night that it was pushing No time to die From April to October, Sony announced a series of high-level changes to its spring and summer schedule amid the ongoing pandemic and uncertainty over when the film will resume airing in earnest.
Will Gluck’s Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway moves from April 2 to June 11, while Jason Reitman Ghostbusters: the afterlife is pushed from June 11 to November 11. The film stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd.
Kay Cannon’s Cinderella, which was scheduled to open on February 5, will now be released on July 16. It stars Camila Cabello in the title role.
Sony has further revealed that it is pushing Unexplored over 2021 entirely. The video game adaptation, which stars Tom Holland as treasure hunter Nathan Drake, runs from July 16 to February 11, 2022. The film will be shown on Imax and large premium screens, and features also starring Mark Wahlberg.
And several hours after its first announcements, the studio pushed back Morbius, the Jared Leto movie based on the Marvel character. It will open on January 21, 2022, several months from October of this year.
