Giants roster moves: TE Rysen John, S Quincy Wilson placed on injured reserve

Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports that the New York Giants have placed tight end Rysen John and safety Quincy Wilson on the injured reserve list.

The moves are obviously disappointing for a pair of young players who impressed in Sunday’s preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.

John went through the first two weeks of the preseason, using his skills and experience as a wide receiver to attack the midfield. He made two of the Giants’ biggest games against the Browns with receptions of 25 and 29 yards down center. Unfortunately, he was injured with just 14 seconds to go.

Duggan added in subsequent tweets that he was told John’s injury did not end the season – that his ankle was coiled – and that he could join the team at a later date if released. with a settlement for injury.

Another highlight of the afternoon was Wilson when he intercepted a misplaced and ill-advised shot from Case Keenum.

The Giants have until 4 p.m. ET Tuesday to reduce their roster from 85 to 80, so more roster moves will certainly follow.
