Giants-Saints injury news: Tae Crowder added to injury report with hamstring problem

[ad_1]

The New York Giants injury report for Thursday looked almost identical to Wednesday’s. Wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton (hamstring injuries) and starting goaltender Ben Bredeson (hand) missed practice again.

Linebacker Tae Crowder, however, was added to the report on Thursday. He has been listed as limited with a hamstring problem. This is a potentially important development. Blake Martinez having been lost for the season with a ripped ACL, the 2020 seventh-round pick became the Giants’ defensive caller. His loss could turn a difficult situation into a chaotic one.

John Ross nominated to return from RI

Wide receiver John Ross, sidelined so far this season with a hamstring injury, has been named to return from the IR by the New York Giants.

That means Ross trained on Wednesday as the Giants set up a pre-visit for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. That doesn’t mean Ross was added to the 53-player roster. The Giants could do it if Ross shows them enough this week, but they have 21 days to add him to the active roster.

Ross’s return would be welcomed by a team that is averaging just 18.7 points per game. The Giants signed the former early first-round pick from the Cincinnati Bengals, who never lived up to that status, hoping he could create some big plays.

The Giants could also do without wide receivers Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard against the Saints. Both players suffered hamstring injuries in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
