Not all home runs are created equal. Few are hit out of the park after an MLB pitcher delivers a fastball floating in the middle. But it’s still remarkable – and wild to see – when a slugger takes an absolutely untouchable step and hits it in the stands.
That’s what Buster Posey did on Tuesday night.
In case you missed it, the San Francisco Giants are once again, as they have been most of the season, on fire. They have won nine straight games, largely thanks to an attacking offense; San Francisco has scored no less than six points in each of its nine most recent wins.
In Game 2 of the Giants’ current series against the San Diego Padres, Posey put the home team on the board almost immediately. He took Jake Arrieta deep at the end of the first set and did so on pitch that was very clearly high and inside.

If you’re a Giants fan, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that the only other player to approach a home run from a distance on terrain so far from the strike zone was … Pablo Sandoval. A real king.
