Finally, our long national nightmare is over: four months after incomprehensible beauty couple Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik welcomed their first child, a baby girl, we know the name of that child. Last night, tireless detectives on social media noticed that Hadid had quietly edited her Instagram bio with a notable new descriptor: “Khai’s mother.” Unless it’s part of some weird ruse, which seems unlikely, we can assume that’s her baby’s name.

In the half day since Hadid’s bio sparked all of this fuss, neither she nor Malik have spoken publicly about the name, which means we don’t yet know the true meaning behind it. But there is at least one compelling theory. A person apparently close to the couple told TMZ that they wanted to pay tribute to Hadid’s paternal grandmother, Khairiah. It’s a compelling theory. Others have noted that the name is similar to Bella Hadid’s middle name, Khair. Also, apparently, Khai means “crown” or “crowned” in Arabic.

Whatever the inspiration, the name is beautiful, just like the baby – we guess. While Hadid and Malik have each shared endearing photos of themselves grabbing Khai’s tiny hands in their own, we have yet to see the little girl in her entirety. Based on their measured deployment of baby information so far, I imagine we won’t get a full photo of Khai for at least two or three more months. Hey, something else to look forward to.
