Gilmore Girls actor David Sutcliffe says he didn’t storm the U.S. Capitol, but praises ‘Patriot’ who did

Former Gilmore girls Actor David Sutcliffe has set the record straight on the Capitol Riot, responding to alleged rumors he was involved in the January 6 attack in DC that left five dead.

Quote-tweeting a video of a rioter smoking weed inside the Capitol, Sutcliffe wrote on Saturday: “There are rumors going around that I have ‘stormed the capital’. This is not true – although I would have been proud to share a cigarette with this great Patriot! “

Sutcliffe is best known for playing Lorelai’s ex (Lauren Graham) and Rory’s father (Alexis Bledel) in the longtime drama Gilmore girls. He starred in 37 episodes of the series, which ran from 2001 to 2007, and also made a cameo appearance in the 2016 Netflix miniseries. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Seasoned actor Sutcliffe made his television debut in 1995 in the Canadian series Knight forever. He also starred in Under the Tuscan sun, cake, and Private practice, and her last roles included guest spots on Unsafe in 2017 and The Romanoffs in 2018. Sutcliffe retired from acting a year later and is now a life coach.

EW reached out to Sutcliffe for comment.

Although he hasn’t been as publicly on politics as other celebrities, Sutcliffe recently liked the tweets. proclaiming “Men’s politics are better for the world” and slamming “The authoritarian left”. He also has tweeted on January 10, on the death of Donald Trump, it will become “a symbol of rebellion and replace Che Guevara on t-shirts”.

Many stars have spoken out against the Capitol Riot, though conservative actor Kevin Sorbo has shown his support for Trump’s grassroots base and spread conspiracy theories about the attack. His former co-star Lucy Lawless criticized him, writing that rioters are “the assholes who go out and do the wrong things of people like you who like to coil them up like toys and let them do their worst.”
