Gilmore Girls’ David Sutcliffe calls Rioter “Patriot”

Rumors were circulating that Gilmore girls actor David Sutcliffe, aka Christopher, took part in the Capitol Riot on January 6. The actor dispelled those rumors, but did so in a way where I now have to hang up my Christopher Apologist hat for the last time.

“Rumors are circulating that I have ‘taken the capital by storm’. This is not true – although I would have been proud to share a cigarette with this great Patriot! ” he wrote.

A patriot, eh? I expect this sort of thing from Jason, but not from you Christopher! Someone gave me this clip of Luke hitting Christopher. I can finally enjoy it.

This only adds to the former actor’s rare but current political tweet. Weekly entertainment shared this treat:

Although he has not been as publicly on politics as other celebrities, Sutcliffe recently liked tweets proclaiming “Men’s politics are better for the world” and criticizing “the authoritarian left”. He also tweeted on January 10 that when Donald Trump dies he will become “a symbol of rebellion and replace Che Guevara on t-shirts.”

Why?!

I’ll never be Team Luke on the show, but Scott Patterson is thankfully right there with no problem. And I researched my favorite Rory boyfriend, Matt Czuchry aka Logan to make sure I didn’t have to break my new Team Logan mug.

Look, I’d be a hypocrite if I pretended there wasn’t media that I love created by Republicans, Rocky films directed by Sylvester Stallone about everything Arnold Schwarzenegger has done. The Republican Party (and honestly both parties) has a lot of responsibility when it comes to racism, homophobia, and focusing more on disenfranchised white voters than the BIPOC folks who help them win votes. At the same time, what happened on the 6th exceeded the limits of what white nationalists and their ilk were allowed to do in this country.

This is something that has even prompted longtime Republicans like Schwarzenegger to speak out against the cowardice and fascist nature of these rioters. To really open your mouth and call someone who got involved in this matter as a patriot, while being silent on social justice issues, is simply irrelevant.

I hang up my Team Christopher Apologist hat and dust off my Team Max Medina hat because, sorry Christopher, but it’s time to go get some coffee.
