Gina Carano talks about her dismissal from the Disney + series “The Mandalorian” on comments she made on social media.
The actress played Cara Dune for two seasons in the hit series set in the “Star Wars” universe, but has faced calls to Lucasfilm and Disney to fire her for her trending social media presence. conservative. “I’ve been through so much, and I’ve seen so much now, clearly, of the bullying that has taken place, and I’ve seen it before,” she explains in a preview before the interview with Sunday (via Deadline). “I’m not the only one who has been bullied by this company, and I know it so deeply.”
Carano says she could share a story that “would make a difference in the media” but doesn’t because it would involve a friend.
“Everyone is afraid of losing their job,” she says.

The former MMA fighter says her former employers were looking for a reason to fire her from the show, likening the situation to the boxing headhunt.

“You know how boxers sometimes chase their heads and forget to go get the body? I feel like Disney or Lucasfilm or whatever, just some people in that company … I feel like I have been kicked out (…) and you can feel it, ”she explains.
The final straw for Lucasfilm and Disney came when Carano came under fire for a social media post in which she compared the current political divide to events in Nazi Germany and conservatives to the Jewish people. She had previously drawn backlash for other comments on the coronavirus, the use of gender pronouns and voter fraud.
Speaking to Shapiro, she reiterated a previous claim that she learned of her dismissal from “The Mandalorian” on social media with everyone. However, she claims that an email that was accidentally sent to her put the writing on the wall before her dismissal.
“They accidentally emailed me, which was very informative, so I knew. I knew they were paying attention. I know there were people who fought for me, but I know that. ‘they didn’t win in the end, “she said.
She goes on to note that she believes the company is playing favorites with its celebrity social media app based on their place in the political spectrum, saying a double standard is in place.

“They’ve been all over me and they’re looking at me like a hawk, and I’m looking at people on the same production and they can say whatever they want, and that’s where I had a problem. I had a problem. because I didn’t accept the story, ”she explained.
Carano concludes her thoughts on the matter in the preview clip by doubling down on her claim that Disney was “intimidating” her into silencing her.
“I was ready to be let go anytime, because I’ve seen it happen to so many people. I saw the looks on their faces. I’ve seen the bullying that takes place, and so when it starts they point their guns at you, and you know it’s only a matter of time. I saw this happen to so many people, and I just thought (…) ‘you come for me, I know you are. ‘They make it very evident through their employees who were coming for me, and so I was like,’ I’m going to swing and I’m going to stay true to myself. ‘ “

While there are still calls for Disney to reverse its decision and bring Carano back as Cara Dune in season 3 of “The Mandalorian,” the actress has already moved on to a new project in partnership with Shapiro and The Daily Wire.
