Gina Carano will no longer appear in The Mandalorian or future Star Wars projects, Lucasfilm said. He also condemned his recent comments on social media.

“Gina Carano is currently not employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans to be employed in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “Nonetheless, his social media posts denigrating people for their cultural and religious identity are heinous and unacceptable.”

Carano shared a now-deleted post on Instagram on Wednesday, comparing being a Republican today to being a Jew during the Holocaust. The post was captured and shared on social media, causing serious backlash and the hashtag #FireGinaCarano trending.

Carano, who played Cara Dune for two seasons of The Mandalorian, has previously been criticized for her political comments on social media. At the end of last year, the actress making fun of wearing a mask in the middle of the pandemic, suggested electoral fraud took place in the 2020 presidential election, liked posts denigrating the Black Lives movement ridiculed the use of pronouns on social media biographies.

Fans had speculated that Cara Dune would appear in the upcoming Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic series, although this has not been confirmed.
