Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani first admitted on Monday that Joe Biden won the 2020 U.S. election.

“As far as this election is concerned, it’s over,” Giuliani said on his radio show on WABC-AM, according to New York Times reporter Azi Paybarah.

“Biden is the president, she is the vice president,” Giuliani added, referring to vice president Kamala Harris.

Giuliani’s statement came hours after Dominion Voting Systems sued him for $ 1.3 billion and charged him with defamation. Former mayor spent months peddling false conspiracy theories alleging polling company engaged in widespread electoral fraud to deliver Biden to the White House and “steal” the 2020 race from former President Donald Trump.

After Dominion filed its complaint, Giuliani issued a statement saying the action “will allow me to fully and thoroughly investigate their history, finances and practices.”

“The amount requested is obviously intended to frighten the faint of heart,” the statement continued. “This is yet another act of intimidation on the part of the hate left to destroy and censor the exercise of free speech, as well as the ability of lawyers to vigorously defend their clients.” As such, we will investigate a counter-action against them for violating these constitutional rights. “

The Dominion lawsuit is the latest legal minefield for Giuliani, who is also the subject of a federal criminal investigation by the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office into whether he violated foreign lobbying laws. Earlier this month, a New York state senator fired Giuliani for expungement over his unsubstantiated and far-fetched allegations of electoral malfeasance.

Among other things, the former New York mayor, who is also Trump’s personal defense attorney, suggested after the November election that Dominion and its rival election technology company Smartmatic agreed to transfer votes from Trump to Biden in the Battlefield States. There is no evidence that this is true, and several right-wing outlets have since had to retract after the two companies threatened legal action.

Giuliani and other conspiracy theorists like GOP lawyer Sidney Powell also adopted and amplified the baseless claim that Democrats and voting machine companies conspired with dead Communist dictators to steal the election from Trump (they didn’t).

After Dominion filed a lawsuit against Giuliani this week, the company’s CEO, John Poulos, accused him of “actively spreading disinformation to deliberately mislead voters.” of our own family and friends are among the Americans who have been duped. “

Grace Dean and Jacob Shamsian of Business Insider reported that the lawsuit itself explained how Giuliani continually accused Dominion of engaging in election fraud and having lax security measures. In addition to pointing to several people who believed his claims, the lawsuit also referred to a speech he gave at a Trump rally preceding the murderous siege of Capitol Hill on January 6, in which he called for a “fight trial” to prevent Congress from finalizing the Biden victory.
