February 6, 2021, Piko Interactive contacted the Twitter user, Forest of Illusion, asking them to stop distributing a Glove maker N64 prototype ROM. The company, which currently owns the rights to Glover, also threatened legal action. This is according to a tweet posted by Forest of Illusion. At this point, the conflict appears to be over and both sides suggest it was the result of a misunderstanding.

Piko Interactive teased that a Glove maker The project was in preparation on December 4, 2020, although specific details on the nature of the project were not disclosed at the time. We now know that Piko Interactive is “… planning an N64 cart release with other ports on a Kickstarter campaign.” The company has disputed the release of Forest of Illusion, fearing it would jeopardize any future cartridge release. The misunderstanding arose from the belief that the game versions of Forest of Illusion and Piko Interactive were the same. However, the two versions have been shown to differ in several ways.

Piko Interactive went on to say that it supports preservation and plans to release “a lot” of the games that it has collected and acquired. The company also believes that the leak was beneficial in some way, as it led to the discovery of additional bugs by members of the community.

Piko Interactive has apologized for “being a little strong” against the preservation efforts.
