The Department of Justice has agreed to provide the Democrats of the House's Intelligence Committee with some documents from Special Advocate Robert Mueller's investigation – but warned that their cooperation would stop if the panel decided to sentence the prosecutor General Bill Barr in contempt.

The agreement comes as part of negotiations between committee chairman, Adam Schiff, D-Calif., And the GM for the full report on Mueller, the underlying evidence and the investigation documents.

"The Department of Justice has already begun the process of identifying, locating and reviewing material that may respond to categories of documents. [requested by the Committee]"Tuesday said the Justice Department in a statement, stressing that it was" a process that would not continue if the committee took the unnecessary and unproductive step of proceeding with the condemnation of the Attorney General for contempt of court ".

Schiff seemed to accept the response of the Department of Justice while maintaining that their subpoena remained in effect.

"The Department of Justice has accepted our offer and will begin transmitting to the committee twelve categories of foreign intelligence and counter-intelligence documents as of this week. Our summons will remain in effect and will be enforced if the GM does not comply with the full document request, "tweeted Schiff Wednesday.

Schiff, however, said that although the Democrats are "satisfied" they will receive documents, the Justice Department's cooperation on this specific issue is "no substitute in any way" for Mueller's testimony himself and the former White House lawyer. Don McGahn.

"We have every hope that [Mueller] Schiff told reporters Wednesday that it was important that Mueller testify at a public hearing. We will insist that this be the case as well. "

We do not know if Mueller will testify before a committee. In the meantime, the agreement comes after the Judiciary Committee has already voted, on behalf of the party, to condemn Barr for disregarding the failure to render the unedited Mueller report and other documents.

The president had claimed the privilege of the executive on the records in order to protect them from their release.

In agreement with the House Intelligence Committee, the DOJ identified 12 categories of documents

"The ministry may be able to discuss their availability to the committee in a relatively short time, subject to processing and review" and consultations with the intelligence community, said MJ.

Schiff said that "the initial production should be completed by the end of next week".

The Department of Justice has already made available to the select group of congressional Democrats an unedited version of the special council report. The Justice Ministry however said on Tuesday that "no Democrat has accepted the offer of the Justice Ministry to revise a less redacted report to the Justice Ministry".
