GM brakes recall: GM recalls 3.4 million pickups, excessive braking problem for SUVs

Under pressure from the federal government, General Motors is recalling more than 3.4 million large trucks and SUVs in the United States to solve a brake problem.

The recall involves Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups in the 2014 to 2018 model years. The Cadillac Escalade from 2015 to 2017 and the GMC Yukon, Chevy Suburban and Tahoe from 2015 to 2018 are also included.

GM says that a pump in the assistance brakes can emit less vacuum than necessary, thus increasing braking distance and the risk of an accident.

The recall comes after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began its investigation last November.

Dealers will recalibrate the electronic brake control module. The owners had to be informed as of September 6th.

Wednesday, we did not know immediately how many injuries or accidents were related to the problem. However, GM said it could have an impact on braking in "rare circumstances," according to Reuters.
