GM Confirms New GMC Electric Pickup, Its Third Confirmed Electric Pickup

General Motors (GM) has confirmed that it is working on a new GMC electric pickup truck to keep up with the GMC Hummer EV.

It will be GM’s third electric pickup after the electric Silverado.

The race to bring the first electric pickup to the US market is intensifying.

Rivian, the market first to hit the market, has just announced that its R1T pickup truck deliveries are being delayed until September.

GM’s GMC Hummer EV is the next most likely electric pickup to hit the market first.

But the Hummer EV will be a more expensive vehicle, especially at the start.

GM has previously announced the Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup, which is expected to be GM’s first mass electric pickup.

Now the automaker is announcing another electric pickup truck, and it’s a new one under the GMC brand.

Duncan Aldred, Global Vice President of GMC, confirmed this during a media event today (via Cnet):

Yes, GMC is working hard on a second electric pickup, which was confirmed during a media roundtable on Monday. Aside from the dark teaser the automaker shared during its presentation, almost nothing is known about this platform. Representatives would not confirm if it will be called a Sierra (it would be quite strange if that were not), and they declined to comment on where the truck will be built – and features, pricing, and availability are, understandably, a complete mystery at this point as well. The only real information the automaker has shared about the vehicle is its size. According to Duncan Aldred, Global Vice President of GMC, “It will be a full-size pickup.

They haven’t disclosed any other details beyond the teaser image pictured above.

At this point, several electric pickup trucks have been announced including the Tesla Cybertruck, Ford F-150 Lightning and Ram recently announced one as well, but GM now has three electric pickup trucks in development.
