As if the delays caused by, among other things, the COVID-19 pandemic last year weren’t enough, the Corvette C8 suffered another setback as supply chain issues forced the company to shut down production.
The report appeared on the corvetteforum, where a customer posted an email informing them that the vehicle ordered through the National Corvette Museum’s delivery program would be delayed.

BGAP (Bowling Green Assembly Plant) just announced a production halt for the week of 2/1 due to supply chain issues. Due to recent delays and this shutdown, your car’s new expected completion date is 2/12. If your previously scheduled provisional appointment does not fall at least 2 weeks after this date, we will have to postpone it.
The R8C Museum Delivery program is a $ 1,000 option that allows customers to pick up their vehicle at the National Corvette Museum, which is located next to the Bowling Green Corvette assembly plant. There, they receive a guided tour of the museum, a presentation of their vehicle, a personalized interior dashboard plaque, and more.

Chevrolet, meanwhile, confirmed to Corvette Blogger that the delay affected all of Bowling Green’s production and that the delay would last for a week.
“Bowling Green Assembly will not go into production the week of February 1,” Chevrolet wrote. “Our supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams are working closely with our supply base to mitigate any further impact on production, and we expect the plant to resume normal operations on Monday February 8. “
This is the third shutdown due to supply issues since the plant reopened in May 2020 after a two-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the most recent in October.
