Christophe Judge, Kratos’ voice actor in 2018 God of the war, said a number of surgeries he needed in 2019 resulted in God of War Ragnarok being delayed. In a short series of heartwarming tweets, he expressed his gratitude to Sony Santa Monica, the studio behind the game, for their unwavering support throughout his recovery.

In his tweets, the judge revealed that in August 2019 he needed hip replacement surgery as well as back and knee surgery. While “studios can be assholes,” the judge said Santa Monica Studio’s handling of his rehab was the “classiest thing” he had ever seen in the industry. The judge praised Santa Monica Studio for not publicly disclosing what caused the much anticipated delay of the PlayStation 5 game. He also supported the God of the war studio by tweeting that everyone in the company, “from top to bottom, should give us hope.”

Cory Barlog, Creative Director of Santa Monica Studio and Director of God of the war, took personal responsibility for Ragnarokthe delay back when the dev team was criticized for postponing the game, according to Eurogamer.

Barlog personally responded to Judge’s tweets, saying, “I’d go through a thousand fires for you, my friend.” He paired this tweet with the infamous Aragorn gif of The Fellowship of the Ring saying “You have my sword.” Naturally, Twitter followers joined in the sentiment with The Lord of the Rings gifs in support of the former Stargate SG-1 actor.

The judge also shockingly admitted that he was initially going to stop playing Kratos when he learned that Barlog would not be returning to direct. Ragnarok. Barlog, however, persuaded the judge to stay in the role, telling him that RagnarokEric Williams director is “a beast”. The judge confirmed that he now agrees with Barlog’s assessment and testified that Williams is indeed “a fucking beast. “

The judge thanked the God of the war fandom and the team at Santa Monica Studio for bringing Kratos to life “without judgment, but with unconditional love and support.” God of War Ragnarok released in 2022.
