Recently it was confirmed that God of War: Ragnarok is about to conclude God of the war‘s Norse saga with its next episode. Since this information was expressed, fans have relied on substantial narrative teasing to determine where the protagonists might be heading next.

Cory Barlog shared an underlying reason for the Nordic Saga’s seemingly abrupt conclusion, saying it revolves around logistics when it comes to development. Some fans think that God of War: Ragnarok can chain straight into Egyptian mythology, whether in the final act of the game or during a post-credits tease. Today, CptnCASx shared the concept art created by fans of Eric Ryan for a potential Egyptian tale in the God of the war franchise.

Ryan’s artwork transports Kratos and Atreus to an ancient Egyptian landscape entirely, in their own culturally appropriate outfits. Concept art conjures up a conceptual design similar to official key art for both God of the war and God of War: Ragnarok, where the father-son duo stand in front of the landscape of their current mythology with Easter eggs and references scattered around the world. Pyramids, skeletal enemies clad in robes and skirts, a giant pharaoh, and winged lions are just some of the many interesting details included in the fan’s concept art.

Having an arid, sand-swept environment like this would create a stark contrast to the biting cold of Fimbulwinter in God of War: Ragnarok. If Santa Monica Studio was to generate the most meaningful environmental transition, perhaps the diversion into ancient Egyptian mythology for its next sequel would be the most satisfying. Ryan’s concept suggests that in addition to a new myth, Kratos could also receive a new type of weapon: a khopesh.

Because the Leviathan Ax has become such an iconic weapon in its debut installment, it would be a tough pill for fans to swallow if it were cut short for future installments in favor of a new weapon. But that could very well be the case with a new mythology that inhabits only particular types of weapons representative of the culture. Additionally, like Baldur, Freya, and other characters who participated in God of the warIn the adventure of Norse mythology, it is certain that the gods of ancient Egypt would be implemented so thoughtfully and with enough twists and turns to keep players going.

Fans argue it would be a lot of storytelling to wrap up and bring into God of War: Ragnarok, with a sharper exposure and transition to the next sequel instead. Since such huge time periods persist between releases for sufficient development time, fans may have to wait a while to see what is ultimately in store for the franchise.

God of War: Ragnarok is slated for release in 2022 for PS4 and PS5.
