God of War (the 2018 one) will get a welcome visual boost on PS5 tomorrow, February 2, thanks to Sony Santa Monica’s new Enhanced Performance Experience update.
As explained in a new developer blog, tomorrow’s God of War update will introduce an all-new default graphics mode option designed to “make the most of the increased performance capabilities of the PlayStation 5”.
So far, PlayStation 5 owners playing God of War have been able to take advantage of the two graphics modes introduced in the PlayStation Pro version of the game – one performance-boosting, which unlocks frame rate but restricts resolution to 1080p, and the other offering checkered 4K resolution locked at 30fps.
The PS5 has already benefited from a slight increase in frame rate compared to the PS4 Pro in Favor Performance mode, but Sony Santa Monica’s God of War update will introduce a new default setting – Enhanced mode. Those who suspect the change will also have the option to select Original Performance Experience, which is the equivalent of PlayStation 4’s favored resolution mode, offering 4K checkerboard resolution synchronized at 30 fps.
The free God of War PS5 update will be available to anyone who owns a physical or digital version of the PS4 version, as well as to players who got the game through Sony’s PlayStation Plus collection.
