Godzilla: The king of monsters is inspired by the book of Revelation

In a crowded arena at the Anaheim Convention Center, fans were eagerly awaiting Warner Bros.'s presentation. for his list of upcoming movies. And while there was applause and applause for Annabelle Comes Home (see the new trailer) and Shazam! (read our review), the Godzilla sequence we saw was … "Something special." Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty said these words before the broadcast. And he was right!

Below is a summary of the exclusive footage we saw at the WonderCon 2019.

L & # 39; Intro

The trailer begins with Admiral William Stenz (described by David Strathairn) speaking of a montage of mass destruction, while several monsters decimate cities around the world. Stenz says that all continents are under attack. The chaos seems biblical, which Dougherty later told the audience was intentional. "We want to put the" God "back to Godzilla," said the director. This scene in a previous trailer where you see Ghidorah perched on top of a volcano "was inspired by the Book of Revelation," Dougherty said.

Once the intro ended, the film was transferred to Monarch Outpost 32 in Antarctica (according to the official MonarchSciences.com film marketing website). It is there that Monster Zero (aka Ghidorah) is always frozen. Unfortunately for all members of the base, this reality is about to change.

Ghidorah against Godzilla

At Outpost 32, Emma Russell (played by Vera Farmiga) activates what looks like explosives or heaters that pull Ghidorah out of its icy shell. The daughter of Emma, ​​Madison (Millie Bobby Brown, of Stranger Things), is also present. When the ice breaks, all hell breaks loose and the soldiers and scientists can only watch in horror and try to run for their lives. When Ghidorah emerges, he uses his bioelectric energy to kill some of the passers-by. Dr. Russell and his daughter escape by helicopter, but before they can breathe a sigh of relief, a flash of light on the helicopter's radar indicates that something very important is approaching them. You guessed it, that is Godzilla.

Godzilla emerges from the ice with a thunderous roar. The two titans settle a few seconds before the big battle begins. We only had a glimpse of what was preparing for their fight, but given the limited number of footage we have seen, it seems crazy.

The conclusion

The video goes back to a montage of monsters ravaging civilization, but this time, instead of the deeply soothing voice of Strathairn, opera singing was used to accentuate the heartbreaking tone. Faster Godzilla cuts against Ghidorah have been shown, including shots of Mothra and Rodan in action. It was almost too much to take, but no one complained about it.
