If you thought watching Jeff Bezos thanking Amazon employees for making his journey to the edge of space possible was bleak, wait until you hear the premise of the next game. Golf Club: Wasteland.

Developed by Demagog Studio, Golf Club: Wasteland takes players on an odyssey through a future where humans have been wiped off the face of the earth and the planet has become a golf course for the ultra-rich.

You will play as a wealthy person who now lives on Mars but has returned to Earth for a round of golf. 2D side scrolling lets you navigate various scenes like abandoned factories and what appears to be a literal bitcoin mine. As you go through Golf Club: Wasteland, “You will be re-enacting the fall of humanity to the hands of consumerism, Silicon Valley culture and ecological disaster,” according to the game description.

The main character does while wearing an orange spacesuit that protects them from the elements because, you know, after the ecological collapse, the Earth is no longer habitable for humans.

All in all, the whole premise seems like a nightmare scenario for the majority of us, but hey! Could make a fun game. Originally scheduled for launch in August, Golf Club: Wasteland now arrives September 3 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
