Good Samaritans have stopped the attempted kidnapping of a 2-year-old boy by an Australian DJ on a busy San Francisco street, police said today.
Police on Friday arrested Roscoe Bradley Holyoake, 34, of Perth, Australia.
According to Australian media, Holyoake is a popular DJ known as DJ Roski.
The toddler was holding his mother's hand as he walked into the Castro neighborhood when Holyoake seized the boy, the San Francisco police said.
Holyoake ran for about half a block with the mother and several passers-by before they attacked her and held her until the police arrived.
Holyoake appeared briefly in court and was ordered to return on Friday to plead his case.
His lawyer, Steve Olmo, told the media out of court that Mr. Holyoake had no criminal record and that he was in San Francisco on business.
Holyoake stayed at San Francisco County Jail on a $ 500,000 bail.
