Catherine Bell quoted Dr Seuss in her first public reaction to Hallmark ending the Good witch franchise after 13 years that spanned several TV movies and a series of seven seasons.
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened! the actress wrote on Instagram, citing Seuss. “I know we’re all going to miss the good witch and all the amazing characters and stories. But I’m definitely smiling because it happened.
In the series finale airing Sunday, July 25 and titled “The Wedding,” Merriwick’s cousins prepare to face the mysterious force that puts their family legacy at risk as changes are in store for others. Hallmark representative tells TVLine there are no plans for the future at this time Good witch TV and Movies.
Bell said she was “so grateful” to have been part of the Good witch franchise since 2008, “working with the best and most talented, actors and teams, producers, network!” I always had the impression of being with family.
She went on to praise the main character, Cassie Nightingale, as “an always positive, inspiring and uplifting woman.” Someone who brings out the best in everyone she meets, makes everyone’s life better, and always sees the glass half-FULL. She inspired me to be a better person, to be kinder, gentler, more loving and more tolerant. I know many of you felt the same 🥰 I feel so lucky.
Stage partner James Denton, in a statement to our sister site Deadline, said, “It would be improper to complain about your show being canceled after seven seasons, and I won’t. I’ve been very lucky to have been on other longtime series, but Good witch was special. The fans were so dedicated to the show and I’m disappointed for them, but I hope they know how much the actors appreciated their vocal support. The cast was the finest collection of extremely talented people I have ever met. The producers treated us extremely well and I’m happy to have two more films to do with the network, so I’m not saying goodbye to Hallmark audiences yet.
Kat Barrell, who played Joy Harper in Seasons 6 and 7, also commented on her Instagram page, writing: “It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of the #GoodWitch family for the past two years! From day one I have been enjoying it. was greeted with open arms and always felt like I was here for much longer.This cast and creative team are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with and every day on set was special. I’m SO grateful for the memories we made and proud of the great stories we told. What a legacy this show has left in its 14 years (movies and series). I can’t wait for you to see the rest of this season – really come out with a very magical and heartfelt bang!
