Google continues to refine the Google Maps experience, and the most recent set of enhancements are aimed specifically at the Android version of the app.

Specifically, Google introduced a new Go tab whose purpose is to display preferred routes and locations to quickly navigate to a specific destination.

So, for example, if you use the app to regularly navigate to a certain location, you can just pin it to the Go tab. This makes setting up a new route in Google Maps much faster and more convenient, and in addition, the Go tab offers a quick ETA overview for all saved destinations.

One of the best ways to use this feature is to configure various routes and means of transport to a specific destination, and then quickly view the ETA for each one.

For example, you can set Google Maps to your business address using a personal car or public transport, so when you access the Go tab you should be able to see which one is faster and thus make a decision. informed on how to get to the office.

The new feature is only available on Android devices, and Google says it’s working on integrating it on iPhones in the coming weeks.

If you use public transport, you can pin specific routes, which will allow you to see exact departure and arrival times, alerts from your local public transport agency and an updated estimated time of arrival directly from the Go tab. You can even pin multiple routes (including a road route and a transit route) to the same destination to see which one will get you there most efficiently. The Go tab is starting to roll out on Android and iOS in the coming weeks,Google explains.

To try out the new Google Maps Go tab on Android Auto, make sure you’re running the most recent version of the mobile app on your device.
