Google announces October 15 material event for Pixel 4

Google invited the media to a hardware event on Oct. 15 in New York. The company is expected to officially announce the Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL and other devices, including the Pixelbook 2 and the new Google Home speakers. The invitation says "Come see some new stuff created by Google".

The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL have been the subject of many leaks in recent weeks. The first materials appear in convenient videos and a seemingly endless assortment of photos. The latest Google phones will include a new face scan feature, camera enhancements (now with a second lens for portraits) and gesture controls using the company's Project Soli technology.

Google made an unusual move among high-tech companies in June, confirming the existence of Pixel 4 a few months before its scheduled release. We all know it's coming up, so Google has decided to give a quick overview of the design of the new device. Google has also already revealed that Pixel 4 would include its own face identity, with a set of sensors that analyze a person's face for secure authentication.

As for other products, Google said it was working on a sequel to the Pixelbook notebook of 2017, after last year's Pixel Slate tablet failed to fully exploit its potential. This error led the company to cancel future tablets designed by Google and to completely leave this category – at least as a hardware manufacturer.

The Google 2018 hardware event was marked by the introduction of the Pixel 3, 3 XL, Pixel Slate, Google Nest Hub and an updated Chromecast streaming feature, among other announcements. Google recently delivered the Max Nest Hub, which has a larger screen than the standard model with a camera for video chat and home security.
