Google app 9.27 more broadly deploys the lower bar of the topic theme, redesigning settings, sharing the collection [APK Insight]

Beta versions of the Google application resumed Monday after an absence of two weeks, but the publication rate has since risen. The Google 9.27 application is being rolled out tonight with what appears to be the wide availability of several topic theme changes, shared collections and further work on labs.

About APK InsightIn this 'APK Insight' article, we have decompiled the latest version of an app that Google has uploaded to the Play Store. When we decompile these files (called APKs, in the case of Android apps), we are able to see different lines of code in this indication of possible future features. Do not forget that Google may or may not offer these features, and our interpretation of what they are may be imperfect. We will, however, try to allow those who are about to be finished to show you how they will appear in case they are shipped. With that in mind, read on.

Beta version of the pace

Most subscribers to the beta channel received version 9.21 on Monday and version 9.27 today. However, Google (according to APK Mirror) has also released versions 9.23 and 9.24 – not to mention version 9.17 – during this week. Minor changes have been introduced with each incremental version, with Google appearing to increase the number of tests.

Material theme settings and bottom bar

With Google app 9.27, the additional changes to the Material theme we've been following for the past few months are fully rolled out. Two devices on our side that stuck persistently to the old lower bar and Settings, while other phones have been redesigned, have seen the design after tonight's update. Try to close the application from the Recent Android menu to refresh it.

The bottom bar now uses bold material theme icons, while the Plus tab and settings have been completely redesigned. Google's latest visual language is particularly well used to offer a clean, modern look. Top up is the new account switch that swaps the cover image against a Google logo centered. The menu items take advantage of Google Sans and updated icons. New additions include "Research Activity" and "Your Data in Research". The use of rounded selection indicators when you press items is a subtle touch.

In the settings, various flip-flop pages have been consolidated into six menus. "General" houses the majority of settings such as Discovery, Data Backup, and Offline Search. "Notifications" opens the system settings, while "Google Assistant" and "Search" are unchanged. "Language and Region" and "About" complete the list.

A change that Google has not decided to adopt is your profile avatar located in the upper right corner of the Discover tab to quickly change account.

Add a phone number to an assistant

The ability to add a phone number in Assistant appeared in the iOS app for the first time last March "so the Assistant can help you with tasks such as bookings". This addition makes sense for features like Google Duplex. It does not seem to be live in Google App 9.27.

Sharing collections

Coinciding with the Google Material theme, the Collections page has been changed with a brighter background and sharing. As we have already seen, each now has a button allowing users to share links and saved images from the search via a publicly accessible link. This can be canceled by going to the new "Sharing Settings" in the overflow menu.

Meanwhile, Google App 9.27 includes multiple channels related to an uncommitted recommendations feature suggesting more images and pages to save.

It could be a "lab," with the Google 9.23 application, which has a feature to test the upcoming features in advance. Google will ask you for your opinion, but it is not clear if the broadcast is live.

"Be the first to try out new features that Google works on. Send your comments to let us know what you think. "Features may be unstable.

You can sign up here for the beta program of the Google app or by going to the list of the Android Play Store and scrolling the screen to the bottom. The latest beta version of the Google app is immediately deployed when it is available.

We do not publish APKs for download directly because of legal difficulties related to copyright and the possibility of deletion. In the meantime, this model is perilous given Android's bundled bundles of apps and dynamic Google Play delivery.
