Android’s mascot throughout its history has been everyone’s favorite green robot, unofficially nicknamed the Bugdroid. Google may have stopped making funny mascot statues to commemorate new versions of the operating system, but the Android team started 2021 with a video tutorial for making an origami Bugdroid.

A new video uploaded today to the Android developers’ YouTube channel shows how to make an origami Android. The plans were made by the software engineer at Google Lisa Nguyen Quang Do, and put on video by the VP engineer of Google Seang Chau.

The end result after about 11 minutes of folding is a Bugdroid head (remember Google cut off the body in 2019) that doubles as a finger puppet. A PDF printout of the instructions is available here (mirror).
