Let’s face it, we’ve all had terrible passwords in our past. Whether it’s using the same password for every site, using a combination of personal information, or just not using enough unique characters, many of us would do well to step up our habits to online security.
To that end, Google’s latest update to Chrome (version 88) makes it easier to fix all your weak passwords at once, assuming you’re already using the browser for password management.
On the desktop, just tap your user icon in the top right corner of the browser and tap the wrench icon. Otherwise go chrome: // settings / passwords in the address bar. Then tap on “ Check Passwords ” and you’ll see a list of passwords that Chrome has found to be weak, along with the appropriate links for you to change.
You can also ask Chrome to create new strong passwords for you, and the same page will also show you which passwords are known to be compromised, a feature that Google introduced at the end of 2019.
The feature is currently rolling out to desktops and iOS “over the next few weeks” and will be available on Android soon.
