Google is giving the Incognito Mode landing page an update on Chrome after a lawsuit was recently filed on the feature.
The change was first spotted by Techdows (Going through 9to5Google) and offers a new text that clearly presents the browsing capabilities in Incognito mode. There are two sections; “What Incognito does” and “What Incognito does not”. The text in this last section seems to more clearly describe the limitations of Incognito browsing on Chrome. Specifically, while you can make your searches invisible with incognito mode, this only applies to the browser history on the device.
Incognito does not make you invisible online:
- Sites know when you visit them
- Employers or schools can track browsing activity
- Internet service providers can monitor web traffic

In March, a judge ruled that Google faced a lawsuit claiming the company continued to collect data about users in incognito mode and that Google had failed to properly inform users of its tracking practices during the process. private browsing. Google has maintained that it notifies customers whenever a new Incognito page is opened. However, the problem is that it may not be obvious enough to many people, which the new Incognito page seems to address.
For now, the new landing page is only available on Chrome Canary by activating the “Revamp Incognito New Tab Page” flag, which you can do on your Android smartphone or one of the better laptops.
