Nest Cam IQ Outdoor is no longer available for purchase, Google has confirmed 9to5Google, after the site noticed that the camera was out of stock in most countries around the world. The company says, however, that “Nest will continue to invest in new innovations,” including a “new line of security cameras for 2021”.
For now, Google is still selling the Nest Cam Indoor for $ 129, the Next Cam IQ Indoor for $ 299, and the Nest Cam Outdoor for $ 199. IQ models have improved video quality and AI-based features like face and animal recognition. Google says it will continue to support its existing Nest cameras with new features and security updates. However, no current hardware is newer than 2017, so an upgrade is likely overdue.
Google hasn’t provided any details on what the new Nest Cam line will actually include, or when it will arrive, but it’s not necessarily surprising to see the company getting ahead of the announcement. The Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5 were revealed months before their actual ship date, while Google tweeted a first photo of the Pixel 4 the year before in an attempt to prevent the inevitable leaks.
Google also appears to be working on a new Nest Hub with support for Soli radar gestures, as reported by a recent FCC filing.
