Play Music users with privileged access to the service that will last beyond September don’t worry about their subscription being wasted. As 9to5Google Note, the tech giant used to sell one-, three- and six-month subscriptions that customers can gift their friends, and it sometimes ran promotions that sold those options at a discount. Now Google has started sending emails to users with privileged access, telling them that it will convert the remaining value of their Play Music subscription into Play credit starting in September.
The company announced earlier this month that it would start shutting down its Play Music service in September. Australia and New Zealand will lose access to the app first, followed by the rest of the world in October. However, Google started preparing for the service’s demise long before this announcement, even introducing a tool that will let you transfer your Play Music data to YouTube Music with one click in May. The business that caters to subscribers with gifted access is probably one of the last things it needs to do before the service closes.
