Google amazed us when it launched the AI-powered Duplex technology at I / O 2018. The system can be used to make reservations on your behalf, and even make a call if necessary. A year later, however, it seems that technology still baffles restaurants. Calls that look like spam with the use of different voices and accents in immediate follow-ups to confirm reservations, Duplex still has its quirks. But there is also an interesting wrinkle: it can be more polite than a human.
