When Google changed its naming scheme for Google Home devices, we did not really know how traditional Google Home devices would change. The Google Home hub has become the Nest Hub, for example, but all that's left is the usual Google Home and Google Home Mini templates.
It does not seem like Google will retroactively change anything, but the next generation of the little local speaker who could adopt the name Nest.
You can expect the Nest Mini to hit the market next year, unofficially marking the end of the Google Home brand. The good news is that it should offer some rather interesting new features, such as an integrated AUX port, a wall mount and improved speakers.
Google will not dramatically change the size or design of the Nest Mini, which makes sense as the Home Mini is almost perfect for what it's designed for. Some new colors would be good, and they are included in the rumor, but we do not know what colors that includes at the moment. Prices are expected to remain around $ 49 and sales will further reduce this figure.
A nice little thing about the Nest Mini is that it would begin to include some of the awareness about Nest's proximity, like what you get in its other smart home hardware. There is not much that a Nest Mini can do without a screen, but it is supposed to be able to display the volume each time you approach it.
Small improvements, but very significant. Keep an eye on this one.
